Summer Update

About 2 months ago, we sold our house & moved across town. It took two moving trucks, despite the fact that we had just had a garage sale. lol So now we're planning to have another garage sale in a few weeks. Thankfully, we were able to borrow a truck, so we only had to pay for one.

We ended up finding a house to move to at the last minute. On the day we were supposed to close, we found out we are expecting again. Another BIG surprise. We ended up closing about a week later, which turned out to be such a blessing because the house we moved into wasn't ready for us to move into until the exact day we moved out. God's timing was perfect. We've been getting settled into our house, and enjoying construction-free days. Oh, and we have a yard now. Yay!

About the time that we moved, though, David's colitis got a lot worse and he has really been struggling with it ever since. Last week, he became so dehydrated that he had to go to the hospital for fluids/iv. He's doing somewhat better now, but is still trying to figure out a way to manage it. Thank you to all of you who have been praying for him.

We also have been dealing with issues with Jaron's weight. Somewhere between his 4mo and 6mo checkups, he began losing weight, because he had only gained 3 ounces between visits. It was pretty stressful because his weight continued to drop as we tried to get it figured out, and over the past month & a half, we've made 6 trips to the doctor for appts/weight checks. We've begun supplementing with formula and he seems to be doing a lot better, and he is gaining weight.

When not busy dealing with health stuff, the boys & I have been trying to enjoy the summer as much as we can, and we're so glad the sun has finally arrived. The first week of the summer was jam-packed with bbqs, potlucks, playdates, and park days. Since then, though, we've been enjoying a slower pace at home, and the boys have been having a blast with the sprinkler and the trampoline everyday.

We also put in a garden in May & it's been a fun hobby to get back into as it's been 4 yrs since I've been able to do one. My mom helped get the raised bed ready (it was previously a sand box), & Joshua helped with roto-tilling as well as planting most of the seeds.

It's been fun to watch everything get bigger, and it's amazing just how fast it all grows. We planted a little of everything- carrots, radishes, onions, beets, broccoli, green beans, lettuce, spinach, red pepper, tomatoes, basil, parsley, cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, acorn squash, watermelon, and even sunflowers. We also have two apple trees and a grape arbor.

The pregnancy has been going well. I'm just over 4 months along now. For the most part, I've felt pretty good, just trying to make sure I get enough rest & eating enough to keep up with everything. Although last week, I think I could have used more sleep. I have to admit I started to put Jordan (almost 2 yrs, and 32 lbs!) into the baby swing instead of into the high chair (they're right next to each other), and I didn't even realize it until I started to strap him in. LOL I still can't believe I did that. Yes, more sleep for sure...

We're looking forward to finding out whether we're having a boy or a girl in just a few weeks. And this big guy will be turning two in less than a week! Time keeps flying by... Hope you're enjoying your summer as well.
