If all goes well, it looks like we should be able to come home tomorrow evening. Jaron was transferred out of the ICU yesterday morning and into the regular pediatric unit. He has continued to get better, and is seeming like himself again.
The labs have come back and there isn't any sign of bacteria growing in any of the samples. Several of the other tests have come back negative as well, such as meningitis, herpes, group B strep, the flu, etc.
They are thinking it was probably some type of viral infection (possibly adenovirus). It is even possible that his infection and my Pinkeye (which is mostly gone now) were somehow related. So they have taken Jaron off of the antibiotics (which only treat bacteria infections) and will monitor him for 24 hours before sending us home.
We would have liked to have a definite answer as to what Jaron had, but all the signs point to an infection even if they couldn't put a label on it. The fact that he has bounced back to his normal self is reassuring, and we are just so thankful. So if all goes well, we should be back home tomorrow at this time.
Thank you for your prayers throughout all of this, and please pray that Jaron continues to stay well after we go home. It has been a whirlwind of a weekend, but God has really taken care of us and helped us through this. We have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving weekend, as always.
And thank you for all the birthday wishes as well. My family took me out to dinner last night and spoiled me with balloons and cake and all kinds of wonderful gifts. Joshua even painted me a picture of a sunset and had it framed... very special. They left this afternoon to go back home, and I can't wait until we can all be together again. We're hoping for a much more uneventful December...
