Family Trip to the Zoo

Yesterday, David had to go to Portland for something so we decided to combine it with a trip to the Oregon Zoo. We hadn't been to the zoo since Joshua was in Kindergarten! So none of the younger ones had ever been to a zoo. Grammie joined us too, and it was a fun, full day together. David dropped us off at 9am as the zoo was opening and joined us after lunch. We ended up staying until it closed! We had this picture taken just before we left...

The bears were fascinating to watch.

Grammie & Jaron watching the bears...

The boys got to listen to different animal sounds...

Bald eagle...

A cool waterfall...

The boys all had fun climbing through this log.

Joshua really liked this duck and asked me to take a picture of it. So colorful...

The boys got to sit on a tractor.

Jordan had a wild time on a wooden horse.

This monkey was amazing to watch as he climbed around. He was so huge!

After seeing lots of animals, we took a break for lunch and rested. We brought our wagon with us to the zoo, and it worked out perfectly for naptime.

The wagon was also great for rides. They had fun pulling each other around on it.

After lunch, David joined us and we headed off to see the elephants.

Jaron actually fell asleep watching the elephants.

I guess it was his turn for a nap in the wagon.

Unfortunately, it meant he missed out on seeing the lions.

The lions were very cool. It was nice of them to pose for us.

Jordan gets a little break from walking...

Hippos...

We saw these two statues as we came around the corner. They thought they were very funny...

These Geranuks are one of the most interesting animals I think I've ever seen!

Petting the goat...

Jaron woke up just in time to see the zebras...

Giraffes are Grammie's favorite...

Off to go find more animals...

The crocodile was a big hit with the boys...

Watching the sea lions...
