House Update for July 27th

This past week was a much better week as there wasn't so much happening all at once. I am glad to say we are officially done painting the interior of the house... we finished up on Sunday. We'll still have touch-ups to do here and there, but everything is painted and looks really good. It was a really big job with such a large house, and it took much longer than we anticipated.

Our friends, Thom & Donna, were such a blessing and spent three days in a row, helping us paint last week in the heat. My mom has also spent countless hours after work, painting as well. We couldn't have done it without them. Even Joshua helped out with some of the painting.


Last week, we bought the flooring for the bathrooms & laundry room as well as the sinks, faucets, and toilets. I've been helping a lot with getting the whole house cleaned, vacuumed, and ready for the flooring, as well as taking down tape after painting. David also scraped and filled in cracks/nail holes, so the bathroom floors are all prepped and ready for the vinyl to go in. Joshua helped vacuum the showers as well, in between being goofy, as always.


We had lots of deliveries last week as well... carpet, appliances, cabinets... it was fun to see everything arrive that we've been picking out. Although we had hoped to have the carpet installed last week, that just wasn't a reality with the painting taking so long. But they did drop it off and install the tack strip and carpet pad. On Wednesday, they're planning to be back to actually install the carpet. We're learning to be very flexible around here as things change on a daily basis as to what is happening next. lol

(This is my walk-in closet. Our bedroom actually has TWO closets! Apparently, David thinks I have too many clothes, haha.)

David has a busy couple of days ahead of him, though. Tomorrow, he is planning to install the tile for under the wood stove and finish up the stairs... both of these things need to be finished before they install the carpet. Then on Wednesday, the carpet guys arrive at 8am and David has an 11am job interview with the company we bought our doors through. We're praying for God's will to be done.

The doors should arrive on Wednesday and the laminate wood floors should be in by Friday. The rest of the week's plan is to continue on the bathrooms, install light fixtures throughout the house, and begin to assemble kitchen cabinets. I also need to figure out window coverings for the downstairs, so I have a little shopping to do this week.
