Things haven't gone very according to plan on the house this past month. We've had several setbacks, but we're hanging in there. God must think we need more patience... we certainly didn't pray for it. lol But things seem to, once again, be moving along.
The HVAC guys that we hired to install the heating/air conditioning have turned out to be very unreliable. The work they did was fine, but it has just taken way longer than expected. They are hard to reach, don't return our phone calls, and only seem to work one day each week! Who does that?? We couldn't move forward on the inside of the house until they finished, which has pushed our timeline back.
So instead, the focus has been more on the outside of the house... putting up siding and trim, preparing the backyard for a sidewalk & patio (we'll be putting in pavers), and removing dirt piles. We also had phone lines, cable, and electricity lines installed. Oh, and we have a working toilet now as well as lights in the garage and the kitchen.
The other setback we had was my hubby was sick for two weeks and couldn't work on the house during that time. It's a recurring problem that he has had for years, called ulcerative colitis, but he had a bad flare-up recently, which leaves you physically exhausted, and it's very painful. We had to cancel a trip to Disneyland a few years ago because of it. He seems to be on the mend, though, and is back to working full days on the house. We were worried there for a while as we really can't afford for him to be sick right now, and we definitely can't afford to pay someone else to finish the house. We really need him to stay well.
The guys are continuing to put up siding, and this week, there were inspections for the framing, electrical, and HVAC. All three inspection passed (Yay!), and now we can start on insulation and sheetrock. We're expecting at least another month, maybe two, to finish with the house. It seems never-ending.
Pictures to come...
